I am delighted to announce the appointment of Henry Kim as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
As the first member of my Leadership Team, Henry will be responsible for our Corporate and Investment Finance functions. Henry will bring his experience from the pension and institutional asset management industries to establish the UPP’s operational and finance foundation for our Day One of July 1, 2021 and build toward our future vision. He will create the necessary infrastructure to facilitate a smooth, measured transition of responsibility from the current plan administrators at the three founding universities – Queen’s University, the University of Guelph and the University of Toronto – to the UPP over time. He will also contribute to key decisions related to strategic initiatives, operational processes and organizational culture.

Henry brings more than 20 years of institutional investment, financial and operational management expertise. This experience includes time spent at OMERS, a principal role in the start-up of the CPP Investment Board (CPPIB) and, most recently, as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of CGOV Asset Management. There, he managed all aspects of finance and operations, governance, human resources and compliance, creating role clarity and organizational alignment across functional areas for improved controls, growth and efficiencies.
As CPPIB’s third employee, Henry implemented and managed corporate and investment start-up activities and built the necessary infrastructure and internal controls to manage, monitor and measure the fund’s investment risk and performance.
Henry holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Western Ontario, an MBA from the University of Toronto, and is a Chartered Accountant.
The UPP Board of Trustees joins me in welcoming Henry as an exceptional pillar of our growing foundation.
