UPP welcomes Karen Rowe as Chief Financial Officer

UPP is pleased to announce the appointment of Karen Rowe as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective May 2023.

As CFO, Karen will oversee the teams responsible for UPP’s corporate finance, investment finance, and operations functions. Working in close collaboration with UPP’s leadership team and Board of Trustees, Karen will provide strategic leadership, advice, and counsel on operational processes and business decisions.

She has a track record of charting operational excellence and will play a pivotal role in leading the design, build, and implementation of cross-organizational initiatives as UPP continues to grow,” said Barbara Zvan, President & CEO, UPP.

Karen replaces Henry Kim, UPP’s inaugural CFO and Head of Operations. “Henry’s vision and dedication made a permanent and profound imprint on UPP. We are immensely grateful for his inspiring leadership since the early days of UPP,” Ms. Zvan said.

Karen brings extensive executive and chief financial officer experience in both the public and private sectors, including most recently in her role as Chief Financial Officer at CIBC Mellon, where she led the strategic planning and implementation of numerous business transformation initiatives. Karen also has significant expertise in the Canadian and international pensions landscape, having previously held the role of Managing Director, Head of Investment Finance, at CPP Investment Board.
