#AccelerateAction on International Women’s Day

UPP celebrates International Women's Day and all those taking decisive steps toward gender equality.

This week, UPP is celebrating #InternationalWomensDay by recognizing our women Managing Directors—trailblazers in the pensions sector who are driving meaningful change. Their leadership and expertise help shape our intentional culture and strengthen our commitment to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace, ensuring a stronger future for our organization and the communities we serve.

“This International Women’s Day, we’re not just celebrating—we’re taking action. When women support women, we break barriers, drive progress, and create real change. By lifting each other up, we strengthen our teams, our businesses, and our future. Now is the time to turn ambition into action and opportunity into impact.”
Kelly Conlon
Managing Director, Strategy and Communications
“This year’s International Women’s Day theme challenges us to take steps in our daily lives to positively impact women's advancement. One of my personal goals this year is to continue to share knowledge with and offer encouragement to other women in the pension industry.”
Anne Slivinskas
Managing Director, Pension Law & Governance
“International Women’s Day (IWD) is an opportunity to recognize, celebrate and express gratitude to all the incredible women and allies who took risks to help pave the way on our ongoing journey for equity. It’s also the day my daughter was born, and today I celebrate her birth, who she is today, and my hopes for her future. #AccelerateAction is a powerful call to speed up the rate of progress for women’s rights and empowerment, and for me to do my part so that it may be possible for all of our daughters to achieve full gender parity in their lifetime.”

“’Never explain, never retract, never apologize. Just get the thing done and let them howl.’ In 1924, Nellie McClung, a Canadian activist for women’s rights, spoke these words. A century later, these words speak to this year’s IWD’s theme of Accelerate Action. While not easy to execute, nor to be taken literally, following this advice has inspired me, at work and at home, to act, speak up and make progress. Let’s continue to advance women’s careers, health, finances and leadership. Let’s help each other get things done and let them howl!”
Paula Heinzl
Managing Director, Investment Finance
“‘Progress is not linear,’ as Martin Luther King Jr. and Barack Obama have reminded us. Reflecting on my career journey, I see this truth in how I work and, in the people, and organizations I’ve been part of it. It is up to all of us to find ways to accelerate action and maintain positive momentum. Today, I celebrate and thank my family, friends, colleagues and mentors who have supported me. I commit to doing the same for those around me.”
Suchorita Sen
Managing Director, Corporate Finance
“The first IWD was in 1911, and over 100 years later, we still need to #AccelerateAction on women’s equality. I am incredibly grateful for all the incredible women and men who have supported, encouraged, and coached me in my career. While today is a day to recognize the progress we’ve made, we need everyone, including allies, to move the dial on gender equity.”
Amy Jackson
Managing Director, Enterprise & Operational Risk Management
“This year’s theme of Accelerate Action made me reflect on the community of women I’ve worked with over the past 25 years. These women help each other when one of us is stuck or facing a career fork, help you dust off and try again, provide constructive feedback when you goof, and keep you laughing the whole journey. They are generous with their time, networks and wisdom – I took a lot from them over the years and hope that I gave back even more. We are truly stronger and faster together.”
Nancy Schryburt
Managing Director, Pension Services

Marked annually on March 8, #IWD2025 is an important opportunity to acknowledge women’s success, push for gender equality in work and society, and support women-focused organizations.

This year’s campaign theme, #AccelerateAction, is a worldwide call to create and share strategies, resources, and activity that positively impact women’s advancement. It emphasizes swift, decisive steps toward gender equality.
